Clear your calendar - It's going down! The Emancipation Day festivities will take place on Saturday, April 13 and the parade will start at 2:00 PM at 10th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW. The concert kicks off at 3:00 PM and will feature an all-star lineup of some of the best artists in the game! The concert at Freedom Plaza will also feature many of DC's own homegrown talent. November is National Gratitude Month, a time when we reflect on what we are thankful for in our lives. With my family and friends at the top of the list, I am also truly grateful for the District's creative community, the birthplace of Go-Go music.

Since 2015, I have had the privilege and pleasure of working with the most talented and passionate creatives in all 8 Wards. I am humbly grateful for the leadership of Mayor Bowser, the City Council, the amazing teams at the #EntertainDC Office and throughout District government. We’ve worked together to highlight the makers and creatives who make DC a great place to live and work.
I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue elevating the District as a world-class destination in my new role as President and Chief Executive Officer at EventsDC. I remain committed to empowering our community locally, nationally and internationally. I look forward to the awesome and historic work ahead. This month, I encourage everyone to take a moment for gratitude, even if it's just a moment to reflect on our personal lives and the world around us. The Care for Creatives program is accepting new creatives! The partnership between the DC Creative Affairs Office and the George Washington University Community Counseling Services Center provides pay-what-you-can mental health services to area creatives.
To receive care, email CCSCFoggyBottom@gwu.edu and the Care for Creatives team will follow up with more information. You will be asked a couple of questions and then paired with a clinician for support.

The #EntertainDC Office is pleased to recognize Connie St. John as the OCTFME November 2022 Filmmaker of the Month (FOTM)!
Connie St. John is the Founder/CEO of No Weapon Productions (NWP) and President of the St. John Consulting Group. She is also the creator of the Game Changers Experience, an innovative professional development program. Through both companies, Connie and her teams use entertainment and other experiential techniques to create life changes for individuals, strengthen corporations and nonprofits, as well as to address social issues, such as bullying, youth empowerment and justice equality. Connie St. John is currently on the board of Women in Film & Video-DC, which provides educational and networking opportunities for screen-based media makers, celebrates women’s creative and technical achievements in media, and advocates for parity both in front of and behind the camera to ensure that all voices can be heard.
“I am beyond honored to be recognized as one of OCTFME's Filmmakers of the Month," says Connie. "I do the work that I do because I love it, and I know entertainment changes lives. To have someone notice and acknowledge my efforts is incredibly humbling.”

The #EntertainDC Office is pleased to recognize Edgewood Recreation Center as the OCTFME November 2022 Location of the Month (LOTM).
The recently renovated Edgewood Recreation Center located at 300 Evarts Street NE is a versatile and dynamic part of the DC Department of Parks and Recreation inventory. Having recently undergone a $20 Million project redesign in 2018, upgrading the center originally built in 1947, the Edgewood Recreation Center offers a great location option for media production and still photography companies seeking to film scenes featuring sports and other recreational activities.
The state-of-the-art facility is equipped with a new multi-purpose rooms, teaching kitchen and fitness center, as well as a rooftop farm and community garden. The location also features a new turf field with a walking path; two fully equipped playgrounds; an outdoor lighted basketball; tennis courts; and a splash pad fountain. Indoors, the recreation center features a regulation basketball gymnasium, locker rooms, dance/workout studios, and a fully equipped weight room.

The DC One Fund program is the District Government’s workplace giving program. It is jointly administered by the United Way of the National Capital Area and The United Black Fund Inc. All DC government agencies are tasked with encouraging employee participation.
OCTFME's DC One Fund campaign is run by Marcella Hicks and OCTFME was awarded a Certificate of Excellence for the 2021 Workplace Campaign for raising the most funds in its category.
